Lachlan Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Work Health and Safety Officer to join our team and work out of our Condobolin Office.

The purpose of the position is to assist management in exercising ‘due diligence’ by providing broad organisational support in developing and implementing Council’s overall Safety Management System. The role involves the development and auditing of workplace practices to assist in ensuring adherence to policy and procedure throughout the organisation to meet the expectation to provide a safe workplace. This role also administers the workers compensation function and contributes to recovery at work of injured workers. This Position is full-time.

To be successful you will need a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and a Certificate IV in workplace Training and Assessing or equivalent experience. Relevant industry experience working in a safety or risk role would be an advantage. Well-developed written and oral communication skills and strong computer literacy are required to be effective in this role. You must also hold a Class C Driver Licence and Construction Induction Card.

Benefits for you:

  • The salary range is $2,901 to $3,426 per fortnight 
  • Starting salary to be determined upon the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful applicant.
  • The Grade applicable to the position is Grade 10 -11 within Council's Salary Structure
  • Working 76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off (9 Day fortnight) 
  • 3 weeks sick leave
  • Financial Assistance with relocation expenses in accordance with Council policy
  • Access to a leaseback vehicle in accordance with Council policy

  • Employer Superannuation of 11.5%
  • Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award as modified by the LSC Enterprise Agreement
