Roads Engineer/Co-Ordinator

Lachlan Shire Council's Infrastructure Services team have a opportunity for a Roads Engineer or Roads Co-Ordinator. Appointment will depend on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

This full-time position is responsible for managing and supervising operational staff engaged in construction and maintenance of roads, bridges and stormwater in accordance with Council's goals for continuously improving services. The position is also responsible for the investigation, planning & development of engineering projects, for both town & rural improvement works. This may include roads, kerb and gutter, drainage, signs, line marking, bridge construction and other duties such as minor survey and Transport for NSW Road Maintenance Council Contracts (RMCC) requirements. 

To be successful you will need:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering and/or extensive relevant work related experience
  • The ability & demonstrated experience in planning and managing projects, project expenditure, estimating and delivery
  • Experience in effective supervision, motivation and/or monitoring of operational staff, consultants/contractors & other trades
  • A high level of communication skills (both verbal & written), research and problem solving skills and deal effectively with customers & others
  • Knowledge of computer applications including MS Office Suite
  • A Class C driver licence
  • Knowledge of relevant Code, Act, Regulations, Guidelines etc.

Benefits for you:

  • The commencement salary range is $3,187.58 to $3,733.69 per fortnight 
  • Starting salary to be determined upon the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
  • Plus 3.5% civil liability allowance for eligible employees in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award
  • The position is a Grade 11-12 within Council's Salary Structure
  • Working 76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off (9 Day fortnight)
