Lachlan Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Communication and Community Engagement Coordinator!

This position is responsible for ensuring Council has a planned approach to identifying, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of community engagement and communication within the Lachlan Shire. 

This position also delivers a range of community engagement and communications functions, working in partnership with the community, non-government organisations and Government to deliver effective community engagement opportunities and promote a range of opportunities for genuine participation in Council decision making processes through clear communication channels.

To be successful you must obtain:

  • Qualifications in media, communications or community engagement, or relevant industry experience & willingness to undertake studies to achieve these qualifications
  • Experience in developing communication & community engagement strategies
  • Experience in the planning, delivery, facilitation of communication & community engagement initiatives including digital communications & social media management
  • The ability to support the organisation in delivering targeted information to the community & key stakeholders
  • Strong communication & customer service skills, including active listening, public speaking & report writing
  • Commitment to working constructively and respectfully with diverse individuals & groups within the community
  • The ability to work well in a team environment & have a focus on delivery of services to support Council's goals
  • A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • A high level of proficiency using MS Office programs.

Benefits for you:

  • The salary range is $3,577.40 to $3,845.71 per fortnight
  • Starting salary to be determined upon the qualifications and experience of successful applicant.
  • The position is Grade 12 within Council's Salary Structure
  • Working 76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day off (9 Day fortnight) 
  • Professional Development opportunities are available
  • Employer Superannuation of 12%
  • Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award
